What other ways are there to express laughter though?
Haha sounds a bit sarcastic, bwahaha sound like someone with serous mental health issues and then :) is also hard to tell if general laughing or sarcasm. I would use ag ag ag but I think only clique members can use that, it's not something you can just use without at least 15 years of being on WHOer.

Language should be functional, appropriate and eloquent, but not fashionable.
People who say things like 'totes cringe', 'obvs' or use terms like LOL or hashtag out loud - and other such nonsense - should be sent to an educational borstal until they change their ways and reform.

LOL was shorthand for lots of love BEFORE it was for Laugh Out Loud, though. (Well, according to many.) So Cam was rockin' old skool lyrics?
Properly old, is GPs using LOL on forms to denote "little old lady". True. WTF.
